HP Guidance
Edgemere Park neighborhood is one of Oklahoma City’s nine Historic Preservation Districts. The Historic Preservation Districts and the Historic Landmark Overlay Districts preserve places and areas of historical, cultural, architectural, engineering or archaeological significance throughout Oklahoma City. This designation has been one of the most important factors in Edgemere Park retaining its original integrity and value.
Changes to the exterior of your home, garage, driveway or fencing, demolitions, and new construction in Edgemere Park require a Certificate of Appropriateness (CA) to be issued by the Historic Preservation Commission or Planning Department staff. A CA is also needed when altering or adding some landscape features. The Historic Preservation Guidelines (at the link below) will provide homeowners guidance on options for appropriate modifications and new construction.
More information on the process to obtain a CA and the Design and Sustainability Standards and Guidelines for Oklahoma City Historic Districts can be found at:
Edgemere Park’s Historic Preservation Review Committee is available to answer questions regarding modifications and the approval process.
